Where to find ingredients to make traditional mooncakes in Petaling Street

Mooncake, Petaling Street

If you live around Kuala Lumpur area and wish to purchase ingredients to make mooncake, you can try going to a shop called Chai Huat Hin which is located at Jalan Tun H.S Lee (in Chinatown KL area). This is the shop that I have mentioned in my previous articles where my mom used to purchase her mooncake materials when she was making mooncake in the past.

The reason why I write this article is to give you more options. This shop have been around for a long time before bakery supplies shop like Bake with Yen were opened. Old timers and older generations would be familiar with this shop but for those of you who are new to baking mooncakes, you may not know about the existence of such shops.

This shop is also where my mom used to buy her mooncake supplies like the lotus seed (for lotus mooncake) and the nuts like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, preserved melon (for kam tui).
