Tesco, Ikea, The Curve, Ikano- all-in-one

by Yin on January 28, 2010

At Mutiara Damansara, you have the following centers clustered together within walking distance of one another:

  • Tesco hypermarket
  • The Curve shopping complex
  • Ikano Power Center shopping complex
  • IKEA (furnishing)

The Curve: You have Borders bookstore and Metrojaya, as the bigger retailers.

Each of these shopping places, in combination has something to offer to everybody. For example:

  • guys usually enjoy hanging out at Borders (The Curve) or Popular Book Store (Ikano Power Center) while the ladies would be busy shopping at Ikea or Tesco hypermarkets
  • the Pet Safari located at Ikano has live pets and items for pets that the kids would love it
  • Ikano have the play centers for kids to have a gala time

How to get there:

(Note: The bus schedule and service is obtained from Ikea’s website at ikea.com.my)

A free shuttle bus service is available to and from Kelana Jaya LRT Station and IKANO Power Centre. (I spotted the shuttle bus passing by while I was there.)
IKANO shuttle bus service operates daily from 9.00am to 10.30pm.

Pick-up points:

Bus Stop opposite the Kelana Jaya LRT Station
Main Entrance, Ground Floor of IKANO Power Centre
**Bus times from the Kelana Jaya LRT station to IKANO Power Centre are:
   9am, 10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 3pm, 4:30pm, 5:30pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9:30pm

**Bus times from IKANO to Kelana Jaya LRT are:
   9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 9pm, 10:30pm

Alternatively, you may also take a bus from where you are staying to IKEA.

if you’re coming by car:
The IKEA Store is accessible via 4 major highways: LDP, Penchala Link, NKVE and SPRINT Highway.

By car, try to arrive by 11.30am and park at the Tesco Damanasara. Parking at Tesco is free provided you buy something from Tesco- any amount would do whereby the cashier will swipe your parking ticket- and go to Tesco because if I am not mistaken, you have to exit the carpark within some time after swipping the ticket.

When you go late, like about 12pm onwards during weekends, it gets more difficult to find a parking at Tesco. And note that the weekends approaching any major festive session like Christmas, Hari Raya or Chinese New Year, it gets difficult to find parking.
